Logros Excepcionales Reconocidos en la Conferencia Anual de ASHRAE

Por Jodi Scott - Ashrae. ST. LOUIS — Noventa y dos personas fueron reconocidas por ASHRAE por sus contribuciones a la Sociedad y a la Industria de la Construcción en la Conferencia Anual del 2016 realizada aquí del 25 al 29 de Junio.

Premio Louise y Bill Holladay al Fellow Distinguido
Steven T. Taylor, P.E., Fellow ASHRAE, recebió el Premio al Fellow Distinguido Louise y Bill Holladay. Este premio anual se otroga al Fellow de ASHRAE  por su continua preeminencia en la ingeniería o el trabajo de investigación. El honor fue otorgado inicialmente en 1979 Por el miembro Presidente Bill Holladay. Taylor es directivo en Taylor Engineering, Alameda, California.

Premio Andrew T. Boggs al Servicio
Miembro Presidencial H.E. “Barney” Burroughs, Fellow ASHRAE, Miembro Vitalicio, recibe el Premio al Servicio Andrew T. Boggs.  El premio, nombrado luego que el vice presidente ejecutivo y emérito de ASHRAE, reconoció un Premio al Servicio Excepcional  por un servicio distinguido, dedicado y no egoista. Burroughs es presidente y Director Ejecutivo de Building Wellness Consultancy Inc., Johns Creek, Georgia.

Premio al Miembro Distinguido por 50-Años
El premio al miembro distinguido por 50-Años se otorga a aquellos individuos que han sido miembros por un mínimo de 50 años,y que an realizado un servicio excepcional. Los siguientes 15 miembros recibieron el premio:

• Denis J. Morris, P.E., Fellow ASHRAE, Life Member, resides in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
• Charles J. Procell, P.E., Fellow ASHRAE, Life Member, resides in Hartsdale, New York. 
• James A. Scriven, P.Eng., Fellow ASHRAE, Life Member, resides in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
• J. Thomas Sobieski, Life Member, is retired as executive vice president, Miller-Picking Corp., part of York International Corp., Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
• Tseng-Yao Sun, P.E., Fellow ASHRAE, Life Member, resides in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
• Carl A. Swenson, P.E., Fellow ASHRAE, Life Member, resides in Greeley, Colorado.
• Gordon B. Weld, P.Eng., Fellow ASHRAE, Life Member, resides in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
• John W. Welsh, Fellow ASHRAE, Life Member, was recognized posthumously.

Premio al Artículo de la Revista
Philip Bartholomew, P.E., recibe el Premio a Artículo de Revista por el artículo,“Energy-Efficient Approach for Operating Rooms,” elegido como el mejor artículo publicado en el ASHRAE Journal. El artículo fue publicado en Abril de 2015. Bartholomew es ingeniero mecánico senior en Miller-Remick, Cherry Hill,New Jersey.

Premio en Campo Crosby
John A. Shonder y Cyrus H. Nasseri recibieron el Premio en Campo Crosby Field por su artículo, “Achieving Deeper Energy Savings in Federal Energy Performance Contracts,” que fue seleccionado como e mejor artículo presentado a la Sociedad. El Premio en Campo Crosby se nombra por el Miembro Presidencial en Campo. Shonder es director del Departamento de Energía de los Estados Unidos (U.S. Department of Energy DOE) Sustainability Performance Office, Washington, D.C. Nasseri es gerente de programas en U.S. DOE’s Federal Energy Management Program, Washington, D.C.

Premio Willis H. Carrier
Dustin W. Demetriou, Ph.D.,  y Hamza Salih Erden, Ph.D., reciben el Premio Willis H. Carrier, que se otroga a un miembro de 32 años o menor por presentar un artículo extraordinario a una conferencia de la Sociedad. El premio es presentado por “Proposal for Standard Compact Server Model for Transient Data Center Simulations.”

Premio Lincoln Bouillon
Jessica Mangler, P.E., del Capítulo de  St. Louis Chapter, recibe el Premio Lincoln Bouillon, que reconoce a un miembro que realiza el más extraordinario trabajo para aumentar la cantidad de miembros. El premio conmemora los esfuerzos del miembro Presidencial Bouillon por reclutar nuevos miembros.  Mangler es ingeniero mecánico en Ross & Baruzzini, St. Louis, Missouri.

Premio RP William J. Collins Jr.
Kimberly M. Thompson, P.E., HBDP, del Capítulo de Houston, recibe el premio RP William J. Collins Jr. El premio nombrado en honor al Miembro Presidencial Collins, reconoce al director de capítulo de RP (Research Promotion - Promoción de la Investigación) que sea excelente en la campaña de fondos RP de ASHRAE. Premio a la Salud Medio Ambiental
Francis J. Offermann, P.E, CIH, recibe el Premio a la Salud Medio Ambiental, que reconoce la excelencia en el servicio voluntario centrado en aspectos de la salud medio ambiental. Offermann es presidente de Indoor Environmental Engineering, San Francisco, California.

Premio Government Advocacy
Arthur D. Hallstrom, P.E., Fellow ASHRAE, Miembro Vitalicio, BEMP, del Capítulo de West Virginia, recibe el Premio Government Advocacy. El premio reconoce a los individuos que han alcanzado logros con esfuerzo extraordinario en actividades a nivel gubernamental local, estatal o provincial en relación con asuntos técnicos de la Sociedad. Hallstrom resides in Crestview, Florida.

Premio Histórico Lou Flagg
Faye C. McQuiston, Ph.D., P.E., Fellow ASHRAE, Miembro Vitalicio, del Capítulo Central Oklahoma, recibe el Premio Histórico Lou Flagg, que reconoce a nivel individual la preparación de la mejor presentación histórica relacionada con el HVAC&R. El premio es nombrado en reconocimiento del Miembro Presidencial Lou Flagg, quien promocionó la historia. McQuiston es profesor emerito en, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Premio por Logros en Actividades Estudiantiles
Ather Naseem Siddiqui,del Capítulo Northern Pakistan, recibe el Premion por Logros en Actividades Estudiantiles, que reconoce al director del comité de Actividades Estudiantiles por su servicio en relación con las metas y crecimiento de las actividades estudiantiles.  Siddiqui es CEO de Environmental Engineering Centre, Islamabad, Pakistan.

Premio por Logros en Estándares
Jerry M. Sipes, Ph.D, P.E., recibe el Premio por Logros en Estándares, que reconoce un servicio excepcional en el área de liderazgo en estándares y contribución técnica. El es reconocido de manera postuma. Antes de su muerte sirivió como vicepresidente de ingeniería en Price Industries Inc., Suwanee, Georgia.

Premio al Medio Ambiente Humano y Fisiología Ralph G. Nevins
Jovan Pantelic, Ph.D., recibe el Premio al Medio Ambiente Humano y Fisiología Ralph G. Nevins, que se otroga al investigador promisorio por sus logros significativos en respuesta a las áreas generales para el público  con respecto al medio ambiente. Pantelic es un investigador profesional asistentes en el Center for the Built Environment, University of California, Berkeley.
